Scott Hertzog is the author of The Last King of Äncalë, The Despair of Kréchellia, Murdering Tranquility & Other Stories, and The World Sideways. A former English teacher, he writes fantasy, speculative fiction, and poetry shaped by a lifelong fascination with story, history, mythology, and the choices people make when certainty begins to fail.

Scott Hertzog is an author of fantasy, speculative fiction, and poetry and the creator of The Certainty of Kings Saga. A retired English teacher, he spent nearly three decades teaching literature and writing before turning his attention fully to his own books.
Full Bio
Scott Hertzog spent nearly three decades teaching English, literature, and creative writing before becoming a full-time author.
His work ranges from epic fantasy to speculative short fiction and poetry, but much of it shares a common interest: ordinary people confronting choices that are anything but ordinary.
His debut epic fantasy novel, The Last King of Äncale, begins The Certainty of Kings Saga, a story of plague, political fracture, ancient powers, and the dangerous certainty of people convinced they are doing what is necessary.
His companion work, The Despair of Kréchellia, explores the history of the same world through a tragic fantasy narrative written entirely in formal verse.
Hertzog is also the author of the speculative fiction collection Murdering Tranquility & Other Stories and the poetry collection The World Sideways.
He lives and writes in Portugal with his wife, Kristen.
